So I recently got a new monitor and a new computer, when I tryed to hook it up to the pc it would say "D-sub no signal", how would I fix this?

I have tryed removing both the ram and GPU in again but it didn't solve the issue. As it is a new build it has literally nothing on it yet.

Its a LG monitor with both HDMI and VGA/D-sub connectors on the back of the display. I am currently using the VGA cable combined with a VGA to HDMI adapter as my motherboard has no VGA slot and the display came with no HDMI cable. Could the cause of the problem be the fact I'm using an adapter when the monitor itself already has a HDMI slot?

As for the computer it does indeed turn on and all the fans start moving but since its a new build it could possibly be a problem with the pc itself.
