I have random question

Go to solution Solved by Volbet,

im not talking about a full PC power supply but more like a power brick 12v power supply quite cheap and the end is just a 4 pin molex

Oh, OK. I completly misundertood the first post. My bad,

In that case, that would be a reasonable solution, since it wouldn't require the rewiring of the fan.

With a 12v PSU the fan will work like it would in a case. It will run at 100% speed all the time, but if that's what want then that's all well and good.

I have a 200mm led fan lying arround that I want to re purpose for decoration. But I want the fan to be always on xD an actually powerd so I figure I can just purchase a 12V 4pin molex power supply from Amazon or something and conect the fan to the random molex power supply. I supose since the fan has a 3 pin male adapter to 4 pin molex I could just plug that to the random 4 pin molex 12v power supply. I want know if there is any chance of this working as expected before I Purchase the psu?

Couldn't you just wire the fan into a USB cable, and then use a USB power plug? That seems a lot easier than buying an entire PSU.

Or you can get a random 12V adapter from whatever and solder that to the + and - poles of the fan.

Connect directly to the power supply and it will run at a static 100%.

Yes, do NOT waste the power nor money on a full PSU for a single fan. You should be able to easily wire it to a USB plug or fan controller and use less power, make less heat/noise (from the PSU) and take up less space.

some times my English is limited xD so maybe I didn't make my self clear. When I say power supply is not a full PC power supply just a random 12V power brick that has a 4 pin molex at the end for the conector
