Is It Time To Get Rid Of The Headset?

Loe
Go to solution Solved by Loe,

I have old x4s, they get staticky because it's wireless and it depends how close to the receiver you are and whatever but I don't get any static from the surround sound but from chat only it seems. I just take the audio jack for speaking out and it seems to disappear altogether, but this is on my xbox, so yeah...

I think I broke the microphone cable.

Okay then, it seems like a new headset would benefit you and putting $100 towards a pair of corsair vengeance 1500's would make you audio experience more enjoyable.

I'll buy some headphones and a stand alone mic later, once I have the money, gotta improvise until then . . . : (

I currently have a pair of Turtlebeach x12s.

During the livestream I noticed that they began making really loud static noises in my ears. Then afterwards I noticed on teamspeak that the microphone would not transmit my voice, but randomly transmitted the fore mentioned static.

I tried unplugging it all and putting it back in but to no avail.

So is it time to get rid of them and replace them with some headphones and mic, no headset this time?

Do you listen to any music or play any games with this headset?

I would've gotten rid of them even if they weren't malfunctioning. It is time for real headphones.

Do you listen to any music or play any games with this headset?

Yes, I use them as my main audio, I don't use speakers because I only have terrible ones.

Yes, it appears randomly, not that often but it does happen. I think it is because the cable is damaged.

Are these speakers you mentioned nearby that you can quickly hook them up? Unless they produce static themselves - that won't help.

I just turned my mic on from mute and the static appeared, I think it is the mic that is damaged, headphones still work it would appear.

But you did say you got static during music/gaming(whichever one). Was the mic on during those times?

Yes, only started noticing the problem during the livestream and when I tried to go back onto teamspeak to chat. Will try doing a couple more tests at the moment.

Well I do talk to people on the internet, however the headphones work it just appears that the mic part has died completely so I will just have to buy a cheap one of amazon until I have the money to buy something better.

The replacement cable is like $2, I bought a couple extra for mine because it got really bad at one point.  I recommend speakers + mic, but that's just my preference :)

I am jealous, I assume the price = good, too tired to look any further into it :P

Mine are wired, that cable isn't getting replaced :/

I wanted to upgrade anyway.

Steelseries makes nice headsets if you're looking to go back in that direction.
