Okay, I don't want to start any arguments here but I am looking for a new monitor for gaming. Originally I was going to get a 21:9 monitor but then I started gaming competitively in a team. For the same price of the 21:9 monitor I could get a very good 16:9 monitor (144hz, 1ms, g-sync the lot) I am only looking to game at 1080p. Which do you think I should go for here. Please leave your opinion and a monitor that you would recommend.

P.S I don't want to spend more than about $500-$550

Thanks

21:9 for immersion (racing games/ stuff like skyrim), and 144hz for competitive games like css/ cs go.

either or. I don't prefer either.

the whole "emersion" thing for 21:9 is bollocks.

I find I see the top and the bottom of ultra wides so that completely destroys any immersion. same way as I can see the sides of 16:9.

either way.. I just wouldn't go 1080p..serioisly 1080p is shit.. if you want 1080p get a PlayStation.

its 2015, 1080p was mainstream in like 2005..its about time people moved on.

trust me 1440p will blow your mind.. it will make 1080p look like a snes game..

There is only one 2560x1080p 144hz at the moment and that is £700

The pixel density at 34 inch 2560x1080p is terrible and the picture will not look that good

The ACER X34 monitor is a lot better 3440x1440p 21.9 Curved 100hz Gsync but it will be £970

So I would go 16.9 as 21.9 is over your budget

21:9 would be great for watching movies or racing games and the like, however not all games support the 21:9 aspect ratio, aaannd it's expensive as all get out. pretty, but not practical. definitely go with a 16:9. just be careful about backlight bleeding.
