770 2gb 1440p

Go to solution Solved by xToFxREAPER,

If you do can you do crysis?

ok thats the last of the benches for today as my dads home from work and wants his monitor back lol, oc did make a nice difference, pushed the lowest up from 38 to 44fps in a pretty heavy firefight, average was pretty much 60 solid dipping to around 58 so still an improvement there, i went through that check point a couple times to make sure it wasnt margin of error kind of numbers and overall the oc made a very nice difference. my top end oc if your wondering is +75 on the core which boosts to 1333mhz which is on air btw and the memory is +400mhz, i set my fans to a constant 75% and hardly hear them at all and once the game is on i dont hear them at all, temps have never gone over 67 degrees with my ambient being around 20 degrees on average. once i have the second lightning 770 ill be watercooling them and ocing even more. if you wanna know about my personal setup i have a thread around here somewhere i can link you to lol

give me a list of some of the game you play and ill find out for you :)

Battlefeild 3, Skyrim, far cry, metro, maybe crysis (don't have it ) as far as games that are actually quite graphically intensive

2Gb will be bottleneck if you use anti aliasing or big textures. its very tight allready. id say 3gb minimum. why not get 4gb version?

out of stock at microcenter

ok well i know for a fact crysis 3 im assuming thats the one your referring to wont, itll hold that at 1080p but not 1440p unless you want to sacrifice graphics settings :) and my skyrim might not be a fair test because of all the mods i have but ill give her a whirl anyway :) far cry 3 im pretty sure holds 60fps as long as aa is off but ill double check, ill check back in with you within an hour or so maybe more, just woke up so i need some food before i run the benches for you

DO NOT RECOMMEND THE 4GB VERSION OF THE 770 OR 760!

Now that that's been said (sorry for caps); the extra vram is useless due to the bus size being too small, a basic rule of thumb is 128bits per GB.

Console optimisations and how they will effect you | The difference between AMD cores and Intel cores | Memory Bus size and how it effects your VRAM usage |

You'll be fine with BF3. Never played Skyrim; FarCry and Last Light will require there to be no AA. You may have to reduce other settings as well with Crysis 3, and use FXAA only.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

well not like you really need AA at 1440p

Oh right, i didnt know that, thanks for pointing out. Then for 1440p the only viable option is 7950 and 7970 at this price range higher than 2gb. Ill take a mental note :D

got far cry 3 numbers for you, took over a camp and blew some crap up, basically regular play yielded a max of 72fps a low of 47fps and held an average of right around 60fps with ultra preset and all aa disabled, played very smooth, wouldnt have noticed the frame drop if the framerate wasnt on screen xP i should also note im resetting all my oc's for this benching because its doubtfull youll buy a  lightning and have it running at 1333mhz and the mem at 8ghz lol

That's true, however FXAA is still good to use.

why what's wrong with the bus width what happens I had a 640 4gb I think and it worked fine and I used 3.3 gb in a memory leak in skyrim and its very low end width. That misconception was around on older pice cards as there would be no point to that k6000 if that was true with 12 gbs.

It is not a misconception and in regards to the k6000, gk110 seems to screw the rule O.o same way the titan only has a 384-bit bus but can use all 6GB of its vram.

I really think it doesn't matter in bus with as for anything 256 using 4 gigs I don't see what the problem is with that.

well my clocks take more voltage then the windforce will allow but ill set my max oc with the stock voltages, crysis 3 numbers are in though, using high preset not aa, i advanced my campaign a bit disabled some ceph gun batteries and spammed some grenade launchers and everything i could think of to drop framerates, lowest i saw was 38fps max about 67fps averaging around 55-60fps overall still very smooth and playable dont really notice the framerate changes because it really only seems to happen when your spamming nades and whatnot, when not spamming nades and just getting into a standard gun fight lowest i saw was 42 fps, next up is skyrim although i have alot of graphics mods and texture packs so i dont know how fair of a test this one will be

The memory bus is essentially a tunnel for all the data to go through; if it's too small then the flow of data won't be able to make it to the other side in time. However if you speed up the flow of the data then you'll be fine.

As long as your memory clock is high enough you'll be fine; but the 770 and 760 don't have high enough memory clocks...

No 7000 MHz effective that's not fast enough out of all my Gpus I've ever used if never had this issue I think you just hate Nvidia -_-

ok so i fought a dragon destroyed a town caused a good bit of chaos, graphics settings as high as they would go at 1440p with 2x aa it never dipped below 70fps, low was 72 high reached 127fps averaged 80 which is even above my refresh rate xP i did hit the vram wall however i have alot of vegetation mods and whatnot the will eat your vram like crazy so without those mods you wont have that problem, metro lastlight is next on my list of games to run
