Hello forum members,

I'm in need of a PC for my friend, the budget is $800.

He will be doing the basic web browsing and listening to music.

There will be no gaming, so no GPU required.

Also, not need for monitor, mouse or keyboard.

250GB SSD is fine / No HDD required.

Currency is AUD.

Should work, gives him a little bit of GPU horsepower for casual Internet games while maintaining a reasonable price point.

you still have 100$ to spend, you can upgrade cpu and mobo for some unlocked ones or bigger SSD or even a better video card.

even if i added a gpu, my build is superior in every way, the i5 is faster and you still have cash for an OS but i don`t see why you would want to pay for one since there are so many free options out there including windows

Swap the SSD for 250GB and drop the HDD and it should fit his needs perfectly. Since he just wants to browse the web etc he will most likely act as many casual users and just drop everything to C: meaning the HDD being unused when the SSD is full.

Exactly, that's why I didn't want to add a HDD. The user will just dump everything on the SSD anyway.

I'd also say go rather for a i3 or i5. AMDs APUs are good with HBM but a i3 with HT or a normal i5 can perform better - also less heat output.

and get some casefans as well.. not every case has them included

pretty sure i3 will be more than enough for web browsing

I got my dad the exact same build but with a i5 coz he hates dual core

the build came to about 900+ including the Win 8.1 Pro OEM disc which he can upgrade to Win 10

The HT on the i3 helps it out a lot though.

Could probably make it a bit cheaper than 800 tbh, brb - nevermind, got to 600 like dragoon.
