My nexus 5 screen broke. Blame someone other than me. I have a divot in the middle of the glass and multiple hairline cracks spanning from it. Another one just formed today. I am REALLY picky with replacement screens, haven't ever seen a good one for the nexus 7. Has anyone bought a replacement LCD and digitizer assembly as good as the original nexus 5 screen?

When looking for a replacement on Amazon(Only use Amazon lol)

Chat with the good reviewers and which seller they bought from because that is what matters the most. All these sellers sell the higher/lower quality version.

Hope that helps.

Also: Good luck repairing it, takes forever and its complicated. Take the whole phone apart, struggle to remove glass from old display, replace, and put the whole phone back together.

I have tried this on fleabay when I fixed my nexus 7 for the second freaking time and I bought one that claimed it was OEM. Other than the aweful backlight, it was decent but not OEM. I complained and the seller refunded 20 bucks.

The ones on amazon don't seem to have any solid good reviews. Most are just from people that are glad it works. Because I am not responsible for the broken screen, my parental units are, I want it to be no compromises.

But I will continue to look. I am in the process of moving and we have to stay in a hotel and then an apartment and I really don't have the time to fix it.

You want to look into selling it and getting a new phone.

Also, trust me, look into good reviews and ask them what seller they bought from.

Also a a general tip is that it is never OEM, unless you replace the glass only, which is even harder, more prone to failure and time consuming.

well buy, a heat gun, replacement digitizer, then some plastic tools, should be $30-$40 USD.

I have done many replacements before and learned:

Be patient. If the screen comes off in less than an hour you rushed.

Don't buy just the digitizer. The LCD will be destroyed trying to remove it from the glass.

Don't buy the cheapies from China.

I just suck at finding good screens apparently. My nexus 7 has never been the same and I have dumped 200+ in screens.

I bought the phone less than a month ago :( I had to because I was goddamn sick of the scamscum phone. Bought genuine salvage OEM "tested" screens and one arrived DOA and was refunded, and the second worked but after about 6 months it stopped responding to touch and I wasted over an hour trying to fix it. I am not an electrical novice, I know where the problem lies. Seller politely told me to fuck off.

That blows man, I loved my nexus 5. It ended up dying because I overclocked the hell out of it, I since bought a Droid Turbo. Not long after I bought that phone I tossed it to a friend and he failed to catch it thus resulting in a broken screen.

Before this was a POS scamscum phone and I bought a 100$ OEM salvage screen, arrived DOA, got a replacement, worked for a couple months, touch stopped working and seller politely told me to fuck off. Also why over clock? The damn thing is fast as is lol

I guess the good part is that I did not break it and therefore do not have to be the one paying for the replacement ;)

Well I don't know how else to help ya out. That is pretty much what I do.

Here's a glass only replacement. If you do this right it should outlast any chinese variants.
