So here's the deal, I just started a little hosting company with my bud and I am now earning money (I'm 14 so I can't get a job) however I am having problems with saving.

Whenever I get money I HAVE to spend it, for instance I just bought 15x 2m of Ethernet cable and I don't even need it!

I want to save as I am going to build a new gaming machine so does any have any tips for saving money ?

I have the exact same problem :P It's is difficult, but it's all about self control. Either that or you can save some money and give it to your parents and tell them to not let you have it for your own good or something :P There's an idea for you

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

Well you can either stop having buying impulses and not carry money with you or have a bank account where you can get into it so you can't take money out.

I just bought 15x 2m of Ethernet cable and I don't even need it!

I have a piggy bank with at paper note that says "SSD" Then every i get some change i write on the piece of paper how much i need to to save up.

The point: You need to visualize you goal so you can see how far you have come and how far you need to go.

just give it to your parents.......tell them that they can do what they like with it but as soon as youve given them $X amount then they need to allow you to spend that much......just keep track of how much you make and you should be fine...

Be absolutely as cheap as possible. For me, I cut down eating out by about 60% and basically just didn't spend money until I could afford computer things.

A lot of banks have multiple saving options, some of which force you to either visit the bank in person and/or charge you a fee for withdraw if you access it more than a certain amount of times in a given span. That's what I use. It's much more difficult to spend money online if I have to go to the bank in person to do so, as that takes me out of my way and forces me to take time to reconsider (or in the case of "hot deals" it mostly means they'll expire before I can). Plus I only have one withdraw per quarter before I incur a $10 fee, so if I'm saving for something in particular it staves me off of wasting that one use.

I keep all my money in my Paypal account, I think I'll transfer all my profits to my Dad's Paypal and tell him not to give me any money until I have reached my target! :)

Thanks for your suggestions :D

Keep it in a savings account that is connected to your dad's Paypal, that way you can earn interest on it while you're waiting.

Wow nice that you have some income already! I would go about giving it to a person you trust well (such as above, your dad) and just monitor what your taking out

Dont mind if I ask, how did you convince your parents about web hosting and what did you set up that they wouldnt kill you? If I was 14 they would have murdered me.

Golly, I sure hope that my internets are all in a safe place...

My way of saving money, is to not keep it in the bank.

Then I can't just buy random stuff on the internet.

There isn't really any advice I can give you other than the obvious "Learn self control and personal responsibility"..

Don't give in to the short term wants that you don't actually need.

Give yourself the idea that everything will just go downhill from now and you will need the money - great way of doing so.

I am about to turn 18 and from this moment on I need all the money I get, turning 18 is expensive.

So many things I could write here... things like this.
