Take it from an old man that's been down the very same road your on....

You work hard for your money (??) and you deserve to be rewarded for that work.

You do these things and you'll be fine:

1. Take 20% of your check and put it in your pocket. (or a VisaBuxx account - like a pre-paid visa good everywhere)

2. Open a savings account that you deposit 80% of every check.

It's just not fair to work and not have a little bit of cash to run down to the soda shop and get yourself a nice cold pop.

So here's the deal, I just started a little hosting company with my bud and I am now earning money (I'm 14 so I can't get a job) however I am having problems with saving.

Whenever I get money I HAVE to spend it, for instance I just bought 15x 2m of Ethernet cable and I don't even need it!

I want to save as I am going to build a new gaming machine so does any have any tips for saving money ?

Globius

lol you could kinda get a job at 14, im guessing your in the states, theres plenty of things you can kind of do, first of all don't spend money.  Check out your local little league for umpires, some sketchy ethnic markets hire young and under the table, mow some lawns look around.  Unless you live in the middle of nowhere its not that hard.  At least your not one of those kids who takes all of their parents money, buys a $2000 parts lists that isn't even compatible and then buys an alienware.  You could look around your stuff/house for things to sell, or even sell your current pc (if it is yours) and work things that way.  Good luck to you. Kind of a random/pointless topic since you answered yourself a bit (how do I save money-I spend it on stuff I don't need).

You'll realize once you get older how much money is worth, luckily for me my parents instilled the value of money and how far a dollar can go into me since I was born so have always been good at saving money - to the extent where it pains me to shell out 800 dollars for two new monitors :L

800 dollars for two monitors is insane o.o

I think I would be crying if I spent that much and I'm only 16...

hahah I tell myself this every day, but a monitor, just like peripherals, will outlast the components of my rig, so you'd want something that is good :) I've been telling myself I need it, I'm currently using a 37' LG TV as my main monitor that isn't even HD, it sucks.
