Can you extend a USB 3.0 port over CAT5 and add a hub for usbs, and an HDMI cat5 extender for a monitor, and have your PC in another room?

Asking for a friend of course...

:)

I'd go with thunderbolt.

No, you cannot do that.

The question is, what are you intending to do with the computer?

If you are doing any Multimedia or Gaming, then TeamViewer or any remote access will not work, as it will not be a good experience.

What kind of distances are we talking about? A Thunderbolt connection would be ideal.

Wait. are you saying your PC is in one room and your monitor, keyboard and mouse in another room? Then that method, Teamviewer will be useless as you need 2 computers for that to work.

But if you're using one computer in one room and you want to control another computer located in another computer. What's wrong with the built in Remote Desktop Protocol that uses your LAN instead of going through a teamviewer relay server and back into your network?
