ASUS G751 G-Sync vs. Non G-Sync

thetanaz

Hello forum. This is my first post so if I messed something up excuse my incompetence.I am forced into a Dilemma. This upcoming week I will be buying an ASUS g751 notebook.Since the G-sync edition has just arrived in my country but I'm on a tight budget I have a choice to make.Should I go with a non g-sync laptop that has 128GB SSD and 16GB of ram and hope that drivers (official or not) will be released for g-sync support (if anyone has info if the actual hardware of the g-sync version is different please feel free to correct me) or choose the G-Sync model with 8 GB of ram and no SSD but only a sluggish hard drive instead? The processor is the 4720HQ and the GPU  is the 980M in both models so the only difference at first glance is the "g-sync" marketing. So please tell me if the monitor in the G-Sync one is different or is it just a software update that will make ASUS more money from their "new" laptop?I have a couple of days to decide before I absolutely have to own it due to work related reasons. Thanks in advance.

edit:The older model also comes with a backpack and a mouse + it is on sale, while the new one comes just by itself.

Could you get the gsync one, add ram yourself, and swap for an ssd then sell the extra stuff?

The thing is the additional RAM and SSD cost just as much from the laptop store or if I buy them extra so it still exceeds my budget and because I won't be able to afford the SSD right now but in a couple of weeks when I come back from my trip I'd have to install the OS on the Hard Drive and then reinstall on the SSD once I've purchased it.And on top of it all I lose a lot of money because of the sale and the fact that neither the backpack nor the mouse are included in the G-Sync model. What I'm asking here is if there is an actual difference between the models other than the sticker ?

Personally I'd go G-Sync if that's all your gaming on.

It will be all yes but the question still remains if there's a difference at all between the two laptops or if it is just a freaking driver that will not be "officially" supported by the old model

I guess you could get hacked driver if you really want.

The worst thing about it all is that there is a petition for G-sync driver rollout on older g751 models in the ROG forums but no one from support actually adressed the issue and confirmed/denied that the hardware of the machines is different.I am very confused.
