gpu temps getting higher in gaming than while rendering

Hey guys,

my gpu reaches during gaming higher temps (64-67°C) than while rendering (~ 60°C). During rendering the gpu is constant at 99-100% usage with drops to 50%ish for a half of a second when it reaches a new tile to render while on gaming (GTA V) it is between 80-90% usage and it reaches then higher temps. can anybody explain me why this happens?

If youre using a blower style card its normal for it to be around 80 celcius when under load, but i dont know why it would be higher when the usage drops

i should say that i don't worry bout too high temps, only why it is with less usage hotter than with 100%ish usage... My card is a gtx970 gaming g1, rest of the specs in the sig
