Yes, both performance and graphics capacity will increase. Initially you will probably not see much of a difference, but after a year or so it will really start to shine imo

to my understanding it'll reduce the load on the CPU, meaning games will be able to handle more physics calculations etc.

 

less CPU bottleneck means more headroom for higher fps. this is a good thing especially for people with high refresh rate monitors and / or lower end CPU's.

 

also better graphics
