how many watts do i need?

Go to solution Solved by Aytex,

around 400, 550 is fine though

IMO go with a large PSU so when you upgrade in the future you wont have a problem

my pc will hopefully have:

CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 Haswell Dual-Core 3.6GHz Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H97-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H97 Video card: MSI R9 380 GAMING 4G Radeon R9 380 RAM: HyperX Fury Black Series 8GB 240-Pin Hard drive: Seagate Hybrid Drive ST1000DX001 1TB SSD: Crucial BX100 CT250BX100SSD1 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gbps Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER - Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Optical Drive: Asus DVD-RW Bulk Drive

Operating system: Windows 8

I was thinking the 550W would be enough but i just want another person to help me

I hope a 380 isn't a little much for that i3, but a quality 450 watt would be enough for that. Maybe 550 if you plan to upgrade the CPU in the future and OC both the CPU and GPU.

In wattage you'll likely never use more than 280-ish but Antec's HCG 520W modular or EVGAs GS or B2 series will be fine at the lowest wattage you need.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
