Old Motherboard issue

Captain_France

Alright, So I have a problem that I cant fix.

So about two months ago I upgraded my old ass computer as some of the parts where getting on the old side. After the upgrade I had a case, motherboard, cpu and the cooler for the cpu left over as the other parts where carried over.

They where a:

Asus Xtreme Phase p6x58d-e and a I7 920

My Mother then asked me if I could get a cheap gaming computer for my little brother that loves Five Night a whatever. So I wanted to use my old parts as they still worked and it would save her money.

So I grabbed a R9 270 (was on sale for $120), 4G of DDR3 ram running at 1600 and a 1TB HDD.

I went to put windows 10 on it as a little gift and stuck the crap on a USB.

The problem I have is that i'm having one of two issues. It will give me the "reboot and select proper boot device" or wont do anything after telling me no HDD was detected. I had a feeling it might be the copy of windows 10 I had so I grabbed windows 7 but came up with the same results.

I have a feeling it might be the bios needs updating and is just having issues.  Is there anyway to update the bios without having an OS?

Also I would like to put Steamos on it now.

Any Ideas?

I'm afraid to swear now because the overlords might hurt me.
