So I'm gonna be upgrading my pc soon and was wondering if I need to do anything before installing my new hardware to keep using my oem verison of windows 8. Do I need to uninstall windows first? If so how do I do that.

You shouldn't have to. If you're upgarding the motherboard, I suggest that you format the drive and reinstall Windows. You should not have problems activating. If you can't activate online, you can activate by phone.

I'm just upgrading my cpu, gpu and motherboard. I heard you're only allowed to have an oem verison on one system and was wondering if my windows 8 oem is locked to the motherboard.
