CPU & Mobo Upgrade!

So some of you might have seen my post about me having AMD and what ever. anyway my mobo died and so i decided to spend the money and go intel! i was looking at the i7 4790k and the Gigabyte Z97X SOC Force.

I picked the CPU over the i5 4690k because i don't want to have to upgrade it for a while, so i may as well get the best 1150 i7 there is. I picked the mobo because it supports 4 way crossfire, it has a bunch of actually useful features and above all is so cheap compared to other options available @ $230 it is just unfortunate that its black and orange not black and red. i know there are a few good mobos from msi but I've had 2 dead in the last 6 months. what i want to know is

 

-is this good for my setup?

-is this board good for a daily driver

-is there a better mobo that is not msi, not and colours other that red/black/orange and under $250?

 

What do you guys think? P.S im in Australia so prices in aud and aussy stores only and I've already watched linus's reviews on both.

Yeah the mobo is good, you could do a bit of a mod and change the orange to red. I don't know how but from Linus rig update you should know it's possible.

yeah i thought about that but having a couple of dead mobos i don't really want to void the warranty.

No. It's not. MSI's low - mid-range AM3+ boards are total crap and their VRMs always end up fried. They always use semicons from Nikos for their mofsets. Read more in here http://www.overclock.net/t/1501416/msi-970-gaming-anyon...

 

 

When it comes to AM3+, never get board from MSI (poor thermal design). Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P would be the best 970 board if you can't afford 990FX.

 

This maybe the problem of your previous Motherboard problems (a bit late though)
