Hey guys.

I just got this card and realized after watching a lot of YouTube videos it might be running a little hot. I have seen people running gta maxed out at like 70 degrees while mine can go as high as 85. all other temps are fine so Idk what going on. Could this high Temperature affect performance?

what kind of cooler are you running? the stock cooler will be warmer than an aftermarket one, so be mindful of where you are getting the temp readings.

85C is not an issue, and that should not be causing any thermal throttling.

I'm just using the stock cooler so I guess there isn't really much I can do. I've tried moving some fans around but it doesn't help at all. Do you know of any aftercare coolers for the 980 ti reference card?

Don't they throttle at 84c?

card should be fine as long as they are under 90c

Artic are extremely good aftermarket cooler makers although slightly ugly.

My main problem with these is that I am using a micro atx case. I am likely putting a second 980 ti in this week and there is no way I can find somewhere to put all these massive fans

Does your mobo support SLI?

Not many Micro Atx Mobos support SLI.

What case is it?

Here is an AIO liquid cooling loop that you can get. I have it right now and I have never seen my card go above 49 degrees...and that's while I was playing Witcher 3 on max settings. http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=400-HY-0996-B1

Ya man the Gigabyte sniper m5 has sli compatibility and I'm using the Bitfenix Phenom case

Imo, upgrade your case if you're going SLI.

This will choke your 980 Tis hard

My reference MSi 980 Ti ran over 80c easily on the default fan profile, stock clock speeds.

Once I adjusted the fan curve to be ultra aggressive in Afterburner, I was able to OC the card to a stable 12xx MHz base and it never went above 71c. (I couldn't get over the 13xx threshold and remain stable without increasing voltage which I'm not about to do at this point).

You will obviously increase the noise output however it's not unbearable to me - I'm using an mATX case with good airflow so perhaps that aids the card's fans.

Man I just completed my build and it's soooo beautiful haha. I hate big cases. It is based off of linus tech tips Micro atx sli build. That thing would run hot af

Then you're going to have to ramp the fanspeed :/

I might go with the evga hybrid liquid cooler. That thing doesn't look bad at all

What about your second 980 Ti then?
