430 watt enough?

Go to solution Solved by Untouchable,

First of all, don't use PSU calculators. They're constantly unreliable and inaccurate.

Second, You could slightly over clock your GPU, but no too far. You'll run out of power. Maybe +100 Mhz or so.

I have a i5 4460, and a EVGA GTX 960 running on my EVGA 430 WATT PSU right now, Can I overclock my GTX 960? Cooler master wattage calculator says I only use 275 watts as is.

Not entirely sure how good of an idea as wattage calculators are random bullshit generators.

I ran a 4670K @ 4.2ghz + 970 @ 1530mhz on a 400W power supply, you're overestimating just like those websites.

Just recommending something somewhat safe.

Most I ever saw was 320W during Crysis 3, which is the heaviest load you can put on a system. Unless it's a POS PSU, I can safely say he can overclock the life out of that 960 and be safe. A 960 running 1.5ghz+ only uses ~80W.

1st point yes, second point LOL WHUT

That thing uses maybe 200W of power under load he's fine....

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Not random, higher wattage PSUs are more expensive, and the calculator is cooler master's :P
