Well i'm thinking of building 2 different rigs, i haven't decided what but for my micro atx build i was wonder for a red and black colour scheme would you pick the asus gryphon z87 with the gryphon amour kit (looks exactly like a asus sabertooth z87) or would you pick the Asus maximus VI gene? here are some pictures, also this is going to be in a corsair 350D also they will cost about the same because i'm not expecting the gryphon free amour kit to last until i build my pc in 2-3 months.

and here is the gene

Well, two completly diffrent boards. First the gryphon is built to LAST. While the gene was build to offer more performance and gaming flexibility. So decide, is this rig more of a workstation where you will keep it for years and years. Or a gaming one that may be upgraded every now and then and don't expect it to last as long.

What are you looking for from this rig?

Double check everything, I am usually wrong.

I don't like either, but I would go with the Gene. Mostly because of the extra SATA ports and the upgraded audio.

The thing about the TUF series is that they are supposed to be more durable, but I don't think something like the Gene will die anytime soon.

NOOOO. diffrend pci placment and heatsinks.

the main armour wouldnt get in the way. its not blocking any of them it all seems like the same spacing. plus the heatsinks are separate I think

It WILL block them AND heatsinks are NOT separate! See how they are the same size BUT there is more space in the gene between the last x16 slot then the second to last x16 slot in the gryphon, MEANING diffrent positions. :P

Don't you have to buy the thermal Armour extra?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813995016&Tpk=GRYPHON%20ARMOR%20KIT

Why not just get the Sabertooth?

It's free right now with the board but i doubt it will be free with it by the time i build my pc but you never know. and the reason i want the gryphon is because i'm looking to build a mini atx build and full size sabertooth wouldn't fit.

on some motherboards the heatsinks are removable.

the last pcie x16 slot on the gryphon is irrelevant because it is not part of the armour. the only spacing that matters is between the first and second x16 slots

Wasn't talking about last pci slot. Was talking about second to last pci slot, and the spacing diffrence between it and the end of the mobo.

that doesn't matter. spacing between pci slots will always be the same. the length of the motherboard isn't important

Okay, how about the fact that the heatsink that covers the z87 chipset are two diffrent sizes, and you cant take THESE off with out some big mod
