GPU swapping, better safe then sorry question

Hi, im thinking of doing bit of a benchmark of my own between 2 graphic cards i have and was wondering out of being better safe then sorry, do i have to do anything major in terms of software or anything really when changing to another GPU? besides just turning the system off (obviously) and swapping the GPUs, just want to be better safe then sorry since im still learning about PCs

turn ur pc completeley off.

reinstall drivers for ur graphics Card

You have to remove all traces of previous drivers via software such as DDU.

What graphics cards are we talking about?

If it's both Nvidia cards of the same series, then they should work on same drivers.

Otherwise:

turn off computer,

swap cards

turn on computer,

uninstall graphics drivers

install new drivers

 

job done

its a 780 Ti which im currently using and got a mars 760x2 i want to put in out of curiosity

Uninstall drivers, swap out GPUs, install drivers. Done.

I just swap them, I swapped between 4 different Nvidia gpus in one day never reinstalled drivers. Everything was fine.

Uninstall all of the previous drivers unless it's an Nvidia card replacing an Nvidia card, turn off the system, unplug it, remove the GPU, put the new GPU in, plug in the system, turn it on, install the new drivers unless it's an Nvidia card like I said.

Yeah the drivers aren't card specific anymore, just depends on the card series (I think).

Yep, that is the current state now same with AMD drivers.

so with reading through everyones comments, i turn the PC off completely (unplug the power cord just to be sure) swap out GPUs then uninstall GPU drivers and reinstall GPU drivers then im good to do whatever
