Is there a huge difference in heat between Nvidia blower style cards from mid range cards to high end cards?

nvidia's refrence cards imo just for looks. they also get hotter

aftermarket coolers like evga, msi, sapphire, asus, zotac, ect all should have lower temps then blow style

But is there a difference in heat between a refrence card like the 770 and the 970?
