I have a single 8GB stick in my system right now, and it's 1600MHz/CL9. I have a 2x2GB kit that runs at 1333MHz/CL9. Assuming the timings match, should I be able to throw these in my rig alongside my other stick to get a touch more RAM?

BTW, my current RAM is the black ADATA XPG V1.0, and this kit is some Pareema kit.

EDIT: I love how the mods REMOVE the poll and don't put ANY effort into the title. You're doing great guys. Not.

ofc.

ofc it will go fucky, or ofc it will work happily?

Yes and no. You can mix mis-matched RAM, but it's less likely to work together than matched RAM. Even perfectly matched RAM (as in, same specs from a different kit) aren't guaranteed to work together.

If I were to grab another ADATA stick would things work happy with this 4GB kit?

Not certainly. Just try these and see if they work. It won't damage anything, just won't boot. There's no guarantee when mixing RAM, even if they're the exact same model.

^ this, when my other computer was still a dell, it came with a set of kingston 2x1.5GB and hynix 2x1.5GB. And they run at 1066MHz, the hynix is rated for that, and the kingston is rated for 1333MHz... So if I apply that, the hynix refuses to be read but the kingston is perfectly ok with it. You may need to run the current kit at slower speeds to use the other ram with it.

Will I have to manually go into the BIOS and turn the XMP profile off or will it do it automagically?

It will often do it automatically, though you may have to mess around with some settings to get them running at speeds you want. I combined a 1600MHz kit with an 1866MHz kit a while ago and they all defaulted to 1600MHz.

Welp, it worked, and it even took off XMP automagically.
