I'm thinking of buying a 4 GB MSI R7 370 (Would've considered a 380, but it's out of my budget) and I had a few questions.

Does anyone have any experience with this card?

How well will it do on GTA V at 1080p?

I have a 450w PSU that came with my case (My friend's idea, case looks OK though) and it has a 6 pin power connector. Will 450w be enough or will I need to upgrade?

Specs if anyone is curious:

Pentium G3220

Asus H81M-A

8 GB (2x4GB) Patriot Viper Xtreme

Zotac GT 730 2 GB

450W is good but I would seriously wait a little longer and get a 380.

Exactly.

380 is a rebranded 285

Either get the 2GB R7 370 or wait for the 4GB R9 380, you CAN get 4GB R7 370, but only if you want to do CF later, otherwise is better to buy the 2GB version, because you not going to use the extra GB anyway.

Also, your CPU is pretty bad for many new games, you should get the Pentium G3258 and overclock it, or get some i3/i5.

Can you afford an r9 280? It's a faster card.

There is one for ~$210, but it's only in stock in stores like 5-6 hours away from me.

It appears there isn't one on the online store either.

4GB is a bit pointless on that card. I'd recommend an R9 270 with 2GB instead, it's cheaper and more powerful.

Cheaper yes, more powerful? its the same board, with more or less memory buffer.

Edit: I read wrong, haha.. I thought you meant R7 370 2GB

If you're going for GCN 1.0 card, i suggest grab 280/280x/7950/7970. Else R9-285/R9-380.

Just checked out Amazon, it appears there's a 380 for about $229

How big is the difference between GCN 1.0 and GCN 1.2?

Not much of a performance difference, except 1.2 needs less memory bandwidth and capacity due to improved compression. 1.2 supports newer features like Freesync, and it's more power-efficient.

Are there any other features beside Freesync with 1.2?

I'm thinking either an Asus Strix or MSI card.

Which one would run cooler at about 28 C ambient (Summer) and around 23 C ambient (Winter)?

Also support more features of the DX12.

The only new game I play right now is GTA V and it seems to be doing fine for the settings I play at.

It adds a TrueAudio chip, and will support DirectX feature level 12_0. And there are some improvements to GPU compute and 4K video decoding and transcoding.

Not sure which would run cooler. The card doesn't generate much heat though, so either should run quite cool even at 28C ambient.

I heard there was a feature that let you stack VRAM and a feature that let you use iGPU and dGPU in DX12.

Does the 370 support stacked VRAM and the iGPU/dGPU feature?

Yes, but, the game itself must support this feature to stack more VRAM, is not clear of how many games will support this.

1. 4K VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) support. GCN 1.0 limited to 2560x1440. Good for older game that is not demanding and have poor anti-aliasing implementation.

2. 4K recording support with hardware h264 encoder.

3. Improved tessellation performance and memory compression support.

4. DirectX 12 support with feature level 12_0. GCN 1.0 limited to feature level 11_1.

5. Proabably better driver performance in the future because it's AMD.

Even the ability to use iGPU and dGPU in tandem?

That is up for the game developer to implement, it's not automagically enable with any upcoming DX12 game.
