so my friend is starting to buy his parts for his pc and he is arguing with me to get an i7 4790k over the 4690k and the gpu is a 960 i said to him the i7 is not worth the extra almost 100 GBP and he should spend that money on upgrading his 960 to a 970. he has told me he is only doing gaming and maybe a tiny bit of recording but i said to him the i5 is fine help me tell him a pc with a 4690k, 970 or a 390, and 16gb ram is fine for just gaming and a bit of recording

My speakers dont even fit on or under my desk...PA's FTW

Don't waste money on a 4790k for gaming before getting a graphics card alone the lines of a 980.

Unlike a better graphics card, the difference between the i5 and i7 for gaming is negligible in most cases.

Definitely don't get a 4790k for gaming if he's only getting a 960. For gaming if you CPU costs almost twice as much as your GPU you're doing it wrong. :)

Main PC: 4690k, LMG Edition G1 Gaming GTX 980, 16GB Hyper X Fury, Asus Z97-A, EVGA G2 850W, Crucial MX100 128GB, WD Red 1TB 2.5", Dark Rock 3

Laptop: Asus UX305 Monitor: Asus PB278Q Keyboard: Filco Majestouch 2 TKL Mouse: Corsair M65
