ASUS R9 390

Is ASUS R9 390 Direct CU II a good model for the R9 390 ? I heard some rumors around on some other forums that the ASUS models of AMD cards are bad ?

AFAIK the DCU2 cooler was only bad on the 290/290X because they basically just slapped the 780 cooler on it and called it a day.

As for the 390 I dont know, but even if it was good Id probably just go for PowerColor or MSI anyway

I prefer sapphire, but Asus is fine really,

 

I'd advise a sapphire card or power color card, they tend to be quieter.

Its alright. ASUS AMD cards are quite good because they have the 100% Robot made PCB which looks nice. Are you on mobile because it duplicated

Well the PowerColor model isn't available in my country , and the Sapphire model is kinda expensive , so it's either the ASUS or MSI .

MSI's Twinfrozr V is quiter and performs better compared to the DCUII

Sapphire nitro is the coolest msi 8g is the quitest, as for dcuii it has problems cooling vram so i would stay away from it

Asus make really good GPUs on both sides. My temps are fantastic, maxing out at 72*C on VRM1

I wouldn't touch an Asus 390, not after the complete disregard they showed for buyers of their 290s by using a cooler design where 2 of 5 heatpipes made no contact with the core.

 

 

I can live with EVGA doing that on their first 970s since GM204 produces so little heat and since 970s are almost never thermally limited, but doing this crap on Hawaii is unforgivable. The MSI 390 cooler is great, I'd buy that over all others.

Well , I don't think I ever heard ppl complaining about coil-whine on R9 390 , that might be just the 900 series who has the problem.
