Gigabyte 970 (Non-G1) OC - Any good?

Simons

Hello guys & girls,

So the last couple of days i've done some overclocking to my graphics card and I want to know what you guys think.

I tried to bump up the boost clock by 25 Mhz but it just crashed the drivers, even when going to +0.025 MV.
Is this a good overclock, and is there any way I could push it further, without making extreme ''shorten of life''?

Thanks in advance!

The windforce 970 is a decent card.

Though it looks like you might have lost the silicon lottery :/

Yeah i kind of expected that, but i've seen worse cases, so I guess mine is somewhat average.

Just max the power limit and voltages on the gtx 970 they have limited the voltages that can be applied even if you max it out for overclocking.

My Power target/limit only hits 90 at this clock, if i bumped it up by 25mhz to a total of 1604 Mhz, it hit 95 power target.

Just monitor the GPU temps and make sure they are below the 85C mark, I've never really paid attention to the power limit myself be I've never seen it hit over 80% on air.

Tried this;

+88 MV

112% Power Target

and even at that point, I couldn't bump up to 1503 Mhz ( 1604 after GPU boost )

That's pretty good, I'd stress test to ensure stability first though to make sure it can sustain the OC.

Im sitting at 1478 (225 offset) which actually is 1564 Mhz, going to do some stability test either tonight or tomorrow.
