Hi everyone!!

  - I was wondering how to tell if a power supply is generic or not.

..My current PSU is a Super Cool Switching Power Supply, its a 600w power supply with a +12V 32A rail, its even rated continuous.

This PSU comes with the computer package I bought so I can't tell how much it cost. I can't find it anywhere on Google.

It's a cheapo one, no doubt about that. Not sure how bad it might be as some cheapos are decent but others are bad.

Here it is. Pay attention to the "Generic power supply" in the listing.

Yeah it's pretty craptastic, for OEM PSU's there are some good ones such as Delta Electronics, or Hi-pro which which are used by Dell so they aren't all bad but most of them are.

For what I would recommend it depends mainly what your needs are but something for XFX, EVGA, Corsair would be a good choice.

Okay, That's it.

I'm getting rid of this piece of sh!t.

keep in mind that they can find their way into name brand supplies too. Don't go for a CX power supply, it ain't much better and there are plenty of people here on the forums that have had their PCs eaten by a CX series.

EVGA G2, Seasonic, and Antec produces best power supplies.

I found (not bought) a Thermaltake PSU on a store. Is that good?

I never own Thermaltake PSU before so i don't know if they are good or bad. However, you can do a research for a review of that power supply by the time being.

Already did and I found only a few reviews about it being one of the best for budget.

If the reviewers say best for budget then i will give a shot. Although, i recommend Seasonic,Antec, and EVGA G2 because they makes reliable power supplies, and make sure you test the power supply before assemble because if it DOA that would save you tons of headache and hassle.
