Hi Guys.

I read alot of negative things with the first batch of this Monitor (Dustspots, Dead Pixels, Backlightbleeding). After the Store i ordered this one, told me, that they returned their stock and received new Displays, i gave it a try.

I tested the Asus xb270hu second batch now for two Days. For Guys like me who want upgrade from 1080p 60hz to 1440p 144hz, my experience so far.

I dont go into full Detail, im sure you Guys all know the Specs ect.

After 2 Days of testing everything from BF4 to Crysis3, FC4, Skyrim (heavy modded), Witcher 3 and alot of other Games, here a little summary.

Pro:

The 1440p IPS Display with 144hz and Gsync makes Gaming a whole new experience.

You have to see it yourself to know what a huge upgrade this is.

Knifesharp Visuals with no tearing, laging or other annoying stuff we all know from 60hz without GSync.

Almost perfect Colours that even older Games like Skyrim get a fresh look, not to speak of Witcher 3 which looks breathtaking on this Monitor.

-No BLB

-No Dustspots

-No Dead Pixels

The Display itself is perfect.

Con:

Glosy Design (I play in a more darker room, so no Problem for me here), But matt Black would look better.

Buttons and LED Light look and feel cheap. For 750€ i expect more.

Blue LED Light is far too bright and shines through other buttons (i covered it with black cover i made myself)

I waited 2 Month´s for the pg279q from Asus, but no Releasedate yet, and i remeber the start problems of the pg278q. Maybe wait 3-4 Month´s more to get a decent Monitor from them? Nope, im tired of waiting.

Here some average FPS i got in Games with everything maxed out and maximum AA, GSync on, Vsync off.

FC4 ~70FPS

Witcher 3 (with heavy tweaked Ini) ~70FPS

BF4 ~100FPS

Killing Floor 2 ~100FPS

Path of Exile ~180FPS

Crysis 3 ~70FPS

GTA5 ~50FPS

Unique Valley Extreme HD 8xAA min 52FPS max 116FPS

I think thats enough that you can have a Picture what you can expect from this Display when you own a GTX980Ti or semilar Card.

If you turn AA down, you can expect far more FPS from any Title.

After all i highly recommend this Monitor for everyone who has enough horsepower. Its an extreme and awesome upgrade for someone like me who came from 1080p 60hz.

Regards

Praesi

how much AA do you think is the sweet spot for good performance and good quality?

I didnt test it without AA, but I think more than 2xAA isnt nessecary. Even without AA it should look great. I can test it tomorrow if you like.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am torn.

Should I go for 1440p and play AAA games at around 70-80 fps, or go for 1080p and play them at 110-120 fps?

What is the better gaming experience?

Cheers!

Hey. Sry didnt see your comment.

Thats a Nobrainer. 1440p looks so much better and 70 FPS on this Display are  absolutly sleek and smooth.
