How do I backup and restore activation?

Metrize

Hey,

I'm going to get a new SSD and I want to transfer my OS to it (fresh install), how can I backup and restore the activation and will it work even with a swapped SSD or will it not accept it?

Dont do a transfer of anything.  Clean install or nothing.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Your question is invalid.  You cant "transfer" a activation.

Are you asking how to activate Windows during a clean install?  If that is your question, all you do is simply enter your product key when it ask for it.

Yes you can. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/35737-GUIDE-How-to-backup-and-restore-Windows-8-activation

This is hardware-sensitive though. You may need to reactivate. However, you shouldn't have problems doing that. How did you acquire Windows?

Activation via the phone, dont want to call up and waste time again though

Thanks, will it matter if no components are changed except the HDD (to be replaced with an SSD)

I don't know. I have swapped a GPU and managed to retain the licence. And I meant how you acquire the licence? Where did you buy it? Is it OEM or Retail?
