SSD Not being recognized?

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Nope. How do I do that?

Open an application called Disk Management - you should see your drive listed there. You should find an Unallocated section next to the respective drive. Right click on it and select "New Simple Volume" and follow the prompts. That being said, I would install Windows onto the SSD.

So I have two storage drives; a 1TB HHD/SSD (8gb SSD) hybrid and a 128GB SSD.

The 1TB hybrid is my main, and already works. But my SSD isn't even recognized. I was told I have to do something in the bios, but I don't know what that is. Could someone tell me what it is? Thanks in advance!

Do you mean recognized in Windows or the BIOS?

1: Plug it into Port 0

2: Disconnect HDD

3: look for it in startup options

4: RMA if broken

RMA?

And is there another way? I'd rather not have to redo my cable management...

Open an application called Disk Management - you should see your drive listed there. You should find an Unallocated section next to the respective drive. Right click on it and select "New Simple Volume" and follow the prompts. That being said, I would install Windows onto the SSD.

What would be the easiest way to get windows on the SSD?

You would need a USB flash drive or a Windows disc to install Windows freshly. That being said, if the data on your hard drive is smaller than the SSD's capacity, you could clone the hard drive over to the SSD - but it's recommended that you just do a fresh install.

And then set it as the main drive, right?

In the BIOS, yes. You would need to change your boot order so the BIOS attempts to boot off the SSD first.

And I would assume I should format the old drive too once I have it all copied over?
