APK virus question

Hi, soo i downloaded an APK and everytime i download an apk i scan the apk (before opening it) with avast and malwarebyte, and that's not enough i scan it on virustotal.com .turns out there's 17 viruses on the APK.

Now iam scared by the viruses. there's a trojan word.... soo i need to calm my nerf. thinking a lot... and then i found a question witch is :

1.does the virus instantly work when iam downloading/finish downloading or it need to be open then the virus would work, if the file wasnt open the virus won't work.. is this true ?

The virus will only work if you open it. You can install it but when you install it and you notice that it's requesting a lot of permissions then it's obviously a virus. Where did you download the apk from?
