I'm looking at buying the x99 deluxe for a new build I'm planning but read around that it wasn't a good board and have many issue that resulted in RMAs. I would like some opinion on the board performance-wise and where would be the best place to buy it since I'm a regular buyer on newegg.

Do you have a build plan that you can post?

It would be better if we helped you pick the overall system

You won't need the X99 if it's only gaming, it's more of a mix of rendering and gaming platform

$80 dollars wasted on case fans, that $80 dollar can go towards a bigger SSD. WD blacks are a waste and it's expensive. Want performance from a mechanical HDD, then grab a SSHD, it combines SSD with HDD. 32GB is overkill unless your work in on content creation, 16GB is sufficient enough for most of today's builds.  X99 Deluxe owner here, so far no problems what's so ever, got the board since launch and it works great. Not sure what issues others are having. But are they really having issues or just nitpicking where the board does not perform to the way they "wanted" to, like CPU cannot OC to by point 1MHz. OMG this board sux, gonna tell everyone body how bad this board is and give 1 egg!!!!1!!1!

X99 Deluxe is a great board along with others from the X99 series, just pick the one you like best and go for it. Even LMG uses the X99 Deluxe as their test bench in their reviews.

only reason for the fan is cause the chassis will be a table mod so I want it to look cool with proper ventilation
