im in between the MsI Gaming 7 and the MSI SLI Krait edition(the bigger 3 slot), has anyone used either or could help me decide? The only downside I see with the Krait is I use optical audio and there isn't any so I'd have to get a sound card.

optical audio sucks on motherboard anyway bro, get which ever has the better features, which is probably the gaming 7.

We are only 2 weeks from Skylake being launched.  Perhaps wait 2 weeks and get a z170 board and a skylake cpu.  Or pick up z97 an Devils canyon on sale as the shops clear the old stock.

As regards the motherboards I too use optical audio so its a no brainer to select a motherboard that has it.

I personally was looking to get a gaming 7 but I don't want the killer NIC gobbling up my CPU.  PCPer review puts it at 14% CPU utilisation vs an intel ethernet port at 2% cpu.  I will be going with an Asus Pro z170.
