I'm little stuck here looking for a good external drives, and I'm in between choices. Either go with a 1TB good high end drive (at least from what I can tell) like the Seagate backup plus slim or Western Digital my passport ultra. Or I could go with more spacey 2TB drive from a cheaper line like the Seagate Expansion.

So what do you think I should go for?

  1. Seagate expansion 2TB (about 98 dollars from where I'm going to buy it)
  2. Seagate backup plus ultra slim 1TB (about 80 dollars from where I'm going to buy it)
  3. WD Digital ultra 1TB (about 80 dollars from where I'm going to buy it)

Id take the "cheaper" over the ultra slim anyway. its like asking if you want a desktop drive or a laptop drive. the slim will be much slower

From the benchmarks I have seen it's the expansion drive that is slower.

thats intresting.  nvm ignore the stranger from the internet.

still would take the slightly larger drives. intresting the pricing, they are cheaper here and the gap is bigger for the size diffrenc.

I pull my claims, after checking around more it's actually faster, but not by huge margin. I wonder if it's worth the lack of porper encryption software and the extra bulk.
