My new PC components arrived yesterday, including a MSI 970 gaming motherboard and a CM hyper 212 evo. (I'm going to start building in 1 and a half hour.)

But I forgot to check 1 thing: will my motherboard hold the CM hyper 212 evo?

Thanks alot for helping!

I don't know of a single other board these days that would break from a 212 Evo, it's a fairly light cooler. You'll be fine :)

Most borads and cooler mounts work better than you'd expect. I'm not sure if there are instances of boards snapping cuase of the cooler as Aluminum (the main material) is rather light and the only heavy thing is the copper in it.

you'll be fine. tough if you really want to be sure you could mount the mobo in the case before mounting the cooler on the mobo. this way it'll gain some extra strength from the motherboard tray.

evo is pretty light and they make it so the mounts apply pressure evenly so it will hold pretty much any cooler with a mount for a board will work in that board and not break. if you do what linus does and zip tie them on the board you might get some problems

Intel/AMD sets a minimum capacity and motherboard makers must enforce it, then its up to the cooler makers to make sure their cooler stays within the bounds.

It's more accurate to say maximum capacity.
