What kind of router do I need?

I share my internet with 2 people

It would be nice if it would have options to prioritize specific tasks/computers, or be upgradeble to different firmware (like gargoyle)

also what kind of internet plan do I need, how much do fibre cost?

would I need to upgrade to fibre first?

it's up to you which internet plan you choose. Different internet plans are availiable in different places in the world. For example, I can't get fibre where I live but I can get ADSL. You have to shop around.

Super-useful, check this website:

http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

By the way if fibre is available for you, BT has some really good packages and offer a really good router included.

Virgin is the same (although you can only usually get Virgin if you live in the city so check their coverage map)

btw, fibre will reduce ping (like to <15ms ish)
