This is my first real computer build, and seeing as I just got a new job in the software industry, I want a computer that will be nice and reliable (+ some added graphics horsepower wouldn't be too bad). I'm looking for all sort of comments - ranging from bad components or other selections that might be smarter for me.

Your gonna want to get a 980TI instead of 970 SLI. Many games dont support SLI and SLI will lead to stuttering and overall frustration when your just trying to play some games.

I would get a better PSU, maybe a 600watt 80+ at the min.

Make sure that cooler will fit in the case.

I also would either get more monitors, or a better monitor. the dual 970s are going to output more then 60FPS at even the highest settings.

Nvm, didn't realize it was a 4K monitor.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

I'd get a 980Ti, as for the cooler get atleast a BeQuiet! Pure Rock. It's better for the same price. I'd reccodmend atleast a 750w for future proofing. I'd suggest EVGA g2 series for it. Is this just a gaming build? If so the i5-4690k would be plenty.

I'd like the processor for the programming I'm going to be doing (faster compilation and such) but thanks for the tips!

I'll definitely get a new PSU and look into the graphics card situation - thanks a ton peoples!

More PSU wattage, 550W isn't enough for to 970's, a 4790k, and a Z97 chipset. You need at least 650W but preferably 750W. Also I would water cool the CPU or do a custom loop, for the quality of the components you put in there, it deserves to be water cooled.

A custom loop can cost hundreds of dollars more, though. AIO's have pump noise, and are also more expensive, though he is right about needing a better cooler if you're OCing and if not you can save some money on CPU+mobo by going locked/h97.

I would also suggest the g2 for a PSU, more storage maybe, though you can decide what you need there and 250 might be enough for you.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.
