Recommend me a storage solution for my budget.

dwpdwp

I current have 2TB hdd + 128GB vertex 4 SSD.

I am keeping the SSD, but looking to get more space.

My mobo has a caching solution. Is it a good idea to use this to get more storage than the current 128GB on my primary drive. How will SSD performance be compromised?

As for more HDD storage, what would you guys recommend.

I have a budget of about $250.

What? what's your budget?

How much storage are you looking for?

External hdd? Internal? Network attached storage?

So you aren't keeping the 2TB HDD? At any rate, if you need more storage than that, seagate makes some great low-cost high-capacity drives. Remember to have some kind of RAID or backup system in place if all that data is really important to you.

Alternatively, get a NAS!

I was considering a NAS for the future. But I want to stick to HDD and sata for my next big upgrade.

My current HDD are making strange sounds, so need replacing before they fail.

How much is SSD performance held back back caching?
