Yeah, probably. I have an S6 edge that I plugged into my Denon AH-D7000, and it sounded really good (and got quite loud) so you should be fine on that front. As far as comparisons, I wouldn't know :P Never owned an AKG, and never listened to a Beyer...

Is the s6 really that much better than the s5, damn. I have a s5 and it can barely power my ath-m50x's to decent volumes for me, need to carry a fio around with me.

I hated the sound from my S6. For some reason, it always sounded really crap, and very sharp (I honestly doubt that the DAC and amp had a flat response, it was that bad...) My S6, however, is nothing short of great. My SE535, and Fidue A83 will both go up to ear splitting levels at full volume, and my Denon's will go far louder than I would ever listen to music... They really got it right with the S6/S6 edge (I have the edge, so I guess I can't speak for the S6, but if there is a difference, I would be very, very surprised...)

Also, OTG support for my S6 is flawless...

I'm using headphones that come with it, lost the rubber things, usually need it at least on the "ear damaging volume", so about 75%+ for it to be usable

The ones that come with the phone will seem much quieter, because they don't isolate at all, so the ambient noise will greatly decrease perceived volume.

I'm guessing you meant you hated you're s5, compared to the s6?

Something like that... Let's just say that I never used my S5 without an external amp/dac and I use my S6 with nothing else all the time.

There's 32, 80, and 250 Ohm versions of the DT 770 PRO. If you're not going to use an amp, then you should get the 32 Ohm version. I have the 250 Ohm version and I find them really comfortable and durable. I don't have any K553s to compare theses to, but the DT 770 PRO have a great soundstage despite being closed headphones.

And yet again, we have someone that thinks impedance is the determining factor for how hard a pair of headphones is to drive. Amazing!!! Seriously, it's all about 'dat sensitivity, nobody gives a damn what the impedance is, unless you need to know in order to pair it with an amp's output impedance.

Well, the DT line all have the same sensitivity, so for a voltage source the 32 ohm will indeed get louder; however, I have not managed to find a source that can't drive my 250 ohm DT880 to ear-achingly loud levels despite my best efforts. Therefore I don't see the point of paying more for the 32 ohm version, especially since it sounds the worst based on reviews.

I already knew that, but I just remebered reading somewhere that the 32 Ohm version was easier to drive. For your sake, I decided to see if beyerdynamic have any info on this on their website, which they have. It seems that I was correct after all. They designed the 32 Ohm version "for mobile applications." You should be careful with these kinds of attacks before you do your research.

Read my post above.

Yeah, your post makes sense, but that was not my point. I just didn't like how he assumed that I recommended the 32 Ohm version because of the low impedance rather than what I've read about them. I guess I made it seem like that was what I was doing.

I assume that beyerdynamic means that the 32 Ohm version will drain your battery less. This I haven't done any research on, so corrections are welcome.

They draw an identical amount of power, due to having the same power sensitivity.

Ok, i will get the cheapest one. Thanks

Edit: the cheapest one on amazon is the 32...

Just sold mine after like 7 years. I actually enjoy the Gemini HSR-1000 better because of the HM5 pads and they are lighter and have far better soundstage for closed cans. Also, more punchy highs and incredible lows.

punchy highs aren't a thing?

So what if it says "For mobile applications"? That means literally nothing...
