Hello all!

I'm here today because lately my computer is having BSOD issues, and I'm having trouble diagnosing it. I've had the system since 2009, upgraded the CPU, GPU, and PSU in 2011, and was running fine until the last few weeks of June and continues to now.

Prior to resetting to factory defaults, I would get 0x124 errors with the occasional 0x3b, or 0x1e. I couldn't watch Youtube or play Factorio/Skyrim for more than a few minutes before crashing. Sometimes I would leave the computer on, go to work, and come back and see it turned off. After a few weeks of failing to figure it out, I opted to reset.

After resetting, I can watch Youtube and play Factorio for days straight if I wish. When it comes to skyrim however, the PC will still crash after playing for a while. Though now I can play it a little bit longer.

By the way, Factorio is a early access game (not on steam, has its own site) that uses sprites. I figured I would include that info if it helps at all in troubleshooting.

Thank you!

Hydra

Instead of using the recovery media, you should use an ISO to clean install, then use the key that came with the system (I assume it was pre-built except for the upgraded parts)

That was the first thing I did, before and after the reset. Still get the 0x124 code.

*Edit*

Thinking about it, I'm not entirely sure if I did get all of the drivers.

Is there a trustworthy program/website to scan the PC and have updated to download?

I'm afraid of formatting that recovery partition in case HP pulls support for my system. It's bad enough that AMD no longer has drivers for my CPU. Which could very well be the problem. Doing a quick google on how to do a bootable USB for vista, it looks a little complicated. If I manage to screw it up, I won't have that partition as a safety net. I would also need to buy a thumb drive. I rather not spend any more money on this system, as I want to save up for a new one for the upcoming Fallout 4.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

I also downloaded a driver program called DriverMax. Says I have a bunch of outdated drivers and I've been installing them. Slowly though since the free version caps the downloads to 2 per day.

While I slowly see if these updates work, anyone else have a theory?
