Registering a boxed copy in Steam?

Fortress

I just found a sealed copy of Counter Strike: Global Offensive  in my old cabinet. Is it possible to register the game in Steam so I can automatically receive updates?

Has a Ph.D in Nothing and does not speak Chinese, Italian or French. (aber ich kann Deutsch sprechen)

If the key has not been used already you can input it into Steam

Games - Activate a product on Steam - Next - Agree - Type in key - Next - Next - Finish

Should I install it by the CD or just download it?

It doesn't matter too much. The only difference is that downloading it from Steam will give you the most up to date version.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X            | Cooler: Deepcool AK400  | Motherboard: B550 Elite AX V2  | Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB  |

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB   | GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Ti    | Case: NZXT H440 (Red/Black)    | PSU: EVGA 650W G2             |

It doesn't matter, but if you have a small monthly bandwidth cap then install it from the CD to reduce the amount of data you will have to download.
