You will want to reinstall Windows with such a big change. It's advised, even when switching boards with the same chipset. Leaving it as it is and reactivating would either create a mess of an OS, or might not even work at all.

 

You'll have to format the HDD when you install Windows. You could create a partition for Windows if you don't want to do get rid of everything else on it. I would advise moving all of the files you want to keep to another drive, then do a complete clean install before moving the files back.

If youre PC is from HP, than you will likely have a partition named "RECOVERY" instead of the Windows installation dvd. Basically this partition contains and image of the system exactly when you loaded up for the 1st time (wich unfortunately means all the hp junkware is gonna come with it). But yeah use the hp recovery tool there are some good tutorials on the hp website
