Fake ATH M50s (mod)

Hi Guys,
 
To make a short story shorter, I bought some fake Audio Technica ATH M50s a while back (yes these exist), and they have stopped working. I got them for free in the end due to winning a paypal dispute and now I think I should mod them to be something awesome. I have no reason to try and fix them as I have better headphones to use. 
 
Do you have any ideas how I could mod these headphones?Thanks

If it's just the cable thats the problem you could recable them quite easily or even add a detachable cable. Have you opened them up and had a look inside? Would you mind posting up some pics if you get the chance, I'd like to see how they look inside and out compared to the real ones. Theres a video on youtube somewhere for the detachable cable mod.

I know the post is dead by now, but still... i wonder - why the hell would you want to mod headphones that didn't sound great to start with? i bet they have pretty ordinary driver in them, probably really fake-ish feeling pads and much less isolation than the original. Also the photo doesn't look so fake to me. Is it just the original? The only difference i see is the trash sign is on the wrong side...
