KBMOD legitimacy?

Go to solution Solved by Emperor_Piehead,

I suppose that's true, but I'd expect the occasional person to buy a D14 or something down the road and see how far they can push it.

99% of the people I know at KBMOD are put together and don't tweak with the computer once built. One of the few exceptions I know of is @pexon

the only problem I ever really see with those builds when I check them is the power supply they pick. On the $500 and $800 builds I would switch the power supply out for a xfx 550w. There build logs are the most performance while sacrificing everything else pretty much or have a upgrade path for the future. I have complained on a build of the month or 2 about that thermaltake power supply a while ago.

Agreed. I would switch the PSU for something lower wattage(unless I want to SLI/Crossfire later down the road) and to a Seasonic modular one.

The builds seem just fine.

Their choice of power supplies seems a bit odd. Not saying they won't work, just that they're probably not the best power supplies for each build.

Other than that they seem like pretty good builds.

The guy who makes the build logs is well informed about graphics cards & cpus not power supplies.

They choose a lot of bad power supplies and fairly poor motherboards. The MSI G45 has terrible MOSFETs, and I would not want to try to run that with a heavily overclocked 3570k for long periods of time. Ivy Bridge chips don't use a ton of power, but even then, I wouldn't trust it to hole a 1.45V overclock for a long time.

I doubt that a hyper 212 could even hold a 1.45v cpu.

I suppose that's true, but I see a lot of people trying to overclock Asrock Extreme4s, which makes me cringe. Its VRM is about the same, and it's just worrying.
