My Sorta Budget System.

So I've had to say goodbye to my Intel System due to some specific reasons. And I'm going to go AMD..(Alot of the things I do for school and different courses requires more cores and these have been more performing than Intel Imo)

Build;

CPU: AMD FX 8350

CPU Cooler: Corsair H75 AIO Cooler

RAM: 16GB Hyper X Fury (2x8) 1866Mhz

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0

PSU: Corsair CX500W Builder PSU

GPU: GTX 960 EVGA Superclocked (1455Mhz) or Gigabyte Windforce R9 270X 4GB

CASE: NZXT Source S340 Black & Blue

STORAGE: WD GREEN 2TB

I have enough to buy these, But I was thinking if it'd be a good enough build, I'll play games like GTA V Or so (I'm not trying to get as many fps, I'll play on like Mid/High/Ultra or of a mix) The 8 Cores comes in hand with me to be helpful for multicore rendering tasks.

Thanks

you can normally get a 280X for only slightly more than a 960, and it sure as hell outperforms it a thousand ways to sunday. I'd really suggest that, everything else seems totally fine.

280x no longer openly available in EU. Nvm. 960 is fine, other option would be a slightly more expensive 380 for roughly the same gpu horsepower. Don't go out of your way to get either over the other though.

I'll take a look at them, They've always had a spot for me, I've liked them, the good power/fps and heat if I get the right card.

fx8350 is complete and utter trash for gta v. Just saying. Many people on this forum constantly complain with fx's and gta. also you should render with gpu. also green drive is not recommended even for secondary storage, only for archiving photos and stuff.

I will keep recommending you intel even if you say you don't want intel, because when you start noticing amd sucking you will remember me telling you how you are making a mistake and it will eat you in your sleep.

Looks good to me, though you might want a slightly beefier PSU. :)

Wait, you have a 4770K and you are switching to an 8350?

... why?

Your gtx 780 is better than the 960. Way better, in fact...

Also, the 4770K's 8 logical cores are much, much stronger than 8350's 8 physical cores.

You'd be making a significant downgrade, both CPU and GPU wise.

It cost about £500 in total, I already have a few parts. @joshua.pearson

I didn't have a 780, it was a 760 (Liquid Cooler split, shit went down etc etc, long story) @Litargirio

I'll be fine with CPU, a mate of mine runs two 760's with the same PSU, #KeepTheAMDLoveAlive @revsilverspine

I've seen different opinions, I'll see what the outcome is, it'll do me for now. @ZetZet

Ofc its gonna be some Intel fan boys. I hate those guys. As for build get i5 :P When I shopped for parts situation was like this : fx was cheaper then i5 but decent am3+ was more expensive then 1150 mobo. When I calculated all it was same price. Well that was the price here cant say for sure for your place.

going to repeat this once more, there are no intel fanboys, only amd fanboys. since intel is the only rational choice there is no fanboying going on.

I'm not an AMD Fanboy, It's gonna be my first AMD system, I'll give it a shot, I'll probably end up building another system or changing anyway, I cant keep things the same lol :P

i5 Is more expensive, and other things, The AMD Just does what I need it to do alot better in some cases than intel can sometimes. It's just a personal opinion on the performance.

Lay off the RAM and get a better Power supply ...

Raw performance really isn't a matter of opinion - that's all I'm gonna say on this subject :P

if you play a single game i5 is instantly better, because rendering times you can wait for, framerates are gone and they won't be coming back anytime soon. i5 is slightly more expensive, am3+ mobos are more expensive and you are buying a liquid cooler, you could easily fit in a xeon in that budget.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646e31231v3 it's pretty much i7 4770 with no igpu, liquid cooler would be a waste.

Oh, and the reason for the not so well on the LGA 1150 Side ,is im looking for MICRO ATX If i'd go for LGA 1150, But none of them offer a good amount of USB Slots, it's my main concern, as alot of things are being used lmao

Oh ... That's a shame ... Because CX series have a bad thermal threshold ...

Whats the budget and specific use that your using it for? saying school stuuf that requires more cores is not a good answer.

If I'm right, from what you've said you had an accident with liquid cooling and stuff is dead?

Have you tested all the parts to be sure?

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

usb hub? also why this discrimination? why can intel be matx and amd somehow slides with atx.

Would this be more performance bound than an FX 8350?

fx8350 is like an i5, xeon is like an i7. it's like your old i7.

I have, they're not posting at all, GPU Is dead somehow, Motherboard & CPU. i cried erytiem | And the school stuff was for Engineering and Computer science, the developing of the projects we made, was more helpful due to more cores, I found from a friend of mine running the same CPU.

Yeah, i've heard about that.

I've had a second thought on a Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4Ghz with a ASUS H97-I As it has everything i need.

I have a usb hub already but it just makes cables look worst (I'm very OCDish with my setup stuff lol)

I'll have a think about the Xeon...
