What key switches do you like?  What features do you want the keyboard to have?

Razer build quality is good, and they do have an apple-like cult following. You'll need to know what kind of keyswitches you prefer first though.

If at all possible, go into a computer store and ask if you can try out a few different mech keyboards with different switches.

If that isn't possible WASD sells an $8-12 cherry sampler kit with O-rings and optional keycaps. It won't give you the same ability to simulate actually using it on a whole keyboard, but it's something. I figure $10 isn't much to ask if you're already going to spend $100-150 on the thing already.

Also, check out something like the Corsair k70. Great look and awesome media keys.

My friend has a razer blackwidow ultimate, which has blue switches, and i have tried it and i really like the blues, however havent really tried other switches. Not really any stores near me ( that i know of) offers me to actually try to use different keyboards, and i dont think i would like to have the wasd kits shipped from the us.

Max Keyboard also sells them, can't remember if they're US too though.

Go to Fona or Elgiganten, they often have mechanical keyboards on showcase.

I have been in Fona and Elgiganten quite a few times, but i dont remember them having anyone you can try, besides for the razer blackwidow, which has the arrow keys on the box that you can press on.

In my experience they are fairly similar no matter what you choose. You are really just paying for the features and the brand. Figure out your budget and what you need to have (macros backlights etc). Buy the cheapest one. Main porblem for a lot of people is getting the right board with the right switches (depends on location. Europe sucks for it).

Hmm... I have the blackwidow ultimate 2013 and it is splendid! Cherry blues are my favorite. I would recommend a blackwidow if you really like blue switches. And try to see if you can try other switches at a store near you. There's also Ducky, Filco, Cooler Master, Corsiar, WASD keyboards. Some of my friends have those and they really like it

Alright i think im going with either the razer blackwidow 2013 ultimate or the cm storm quickfire tk blue, what are the pros and cons to either one?

Also im quite confused by the arrow keys on the numpad on the quickfire, do they only work when num pad is turned off?
