Samson Meteor is a popular option for the money, I got one and couldn't ask more from a microphone really. It has a metal construction, mute button, and a 3.5mm jack if you need to monitor your voice. The volume wheel doesn't control the gain, only the volume when you are monitoring your voice.

DON'T GET A SNOWBALL UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO COVER THE WHOLE BACK OF IT

 

it's so annoying the fact that it catches every sound outside my room door, unless you have some really thick foam or use push to talk then get it or you live alone
