i heard some one talking about putting an external graphics card on their gaming laptop about a year ago and i was just thinking if i could do it on mine

 

is putting an external graphics card on your laptop even an option?

 

i have a lenovo y40-80

Do you have an extra mini pci express slot, or a wifi adapter that uses mini pci express?

Yes, but the alienware 13 is their only laptop thats a decent deal, and that one only has a dual core CPU. If you were getting the 15" or 17", then it just wouldn't be worth it at all. The MSI GS60 stealth also has the same feature, and its done in an overall nicer way. If you want more details, read about it here.

yeah thats what I was thinking... ugh I wish they would giver better laptop deals

I have a Lenovo Y50-70 Touch. Yes, it has a mini PCI express port. If I use one of those adapters to plug in an external GPU (like a GTX 960 or something like that), will it even work at all. Can I use my internal monitor, or do I have to use an external one? Does doing this produce alot of bottlenecks? What is the overall experience?
