I've been thinking of this lately, when I compare 30fps to 60fps on youtube, 60fps feels soo smooth, is it possible to say that 60FPS youtube is almost the same as playing on a G-Sync monitor? Games that I play just don't feel as smooth as they do in these videos.

I might of course be completely wrong, just an idea.

Youtube 60fps looks more like 120/144hz in games.

and SOLD! The 144hz monitor will be bought!

Only problem with this is that 144 looks better than YouTube 60. xD

This is my observation watching at 60fps with my 4K 60hz monitor. I had bought a 1080p 144hz monitor to experience the fluidity it offers. Once I returned the monitor (I was swapping the monitors on my desk depending on which I felt like using... was getting ridiculous), I concluded it looks just like YT60fps.

A adaptive refresh rate moniter gives the smoothness you describe, just because you have a 144hz moniter doesn't mean you instantly have a GPU that can do 144fps.

If you have that much money to blow do it because why not have both a adaptive refresh rate and 144hz.

Heh, I wouldn't say I have that much money, I haven't had an upgrade/new PC in 5 years, been putting a bit and a bit in a pile of savings for the new PC a lone. I'm only getting in November though, so yeah. I will most likely get the screen now because you've explained the best way I can personally feel a difference. My 60hz/60fps feels sluggish ( a lot ) compared to YT60FPS, so I really hope the 144hz/G-Sync will make my next few years of gaming much more pleasurable.

So much misinformation in this post. Yes 60fps is smooth, yes 120/144 is smoother. G-Sync/Freesync will help you out at lower framerates.

You can't just compare 60fps YouTube and high framerate gaming, it's the difference between watching a viewpoint and controlling one.

Moral of the story? More frames = Smoother.

You've re-iterated everything that has previous been said. Frame timing/pacing also plays a large part in fluidity.

"Watching  a viewpoint" vs "controlling one" is not the reason why.
